The reality is, Geothermal in 2019 is more affordable and is a fraction of the price of what it used to be. This is amazing news! We can also help walk you through the geothermal tax credits and upcoming changes for 2020.

In upstate New York, many companies will start with an estimated base price of $20,000. That price point is generally based on a 2500 square foot home in Poughkeepsie, NY. But don’t get swept up in the fancy word work and hidden citations in the footnotes. What the fine print discloses is that the figure of $20,000 is an estimated price after the federal tax credit and NYSerda credit. It also does not take into account if you need an electrical upgrade, if you have existing duct work, how many wells you need for the ground loop system and how far the trench needs to be from the wells to your home. If you do need those things though, not to worry! It doesn’t necessarily mean the price will sky rocket - especially when you use Catskills Geothermal. We will give you realistic estimates and will work together with you to find the right solution for your financials and your home.

How long does it take to install geothermal?

There are a lot of pieces to consider including your personal availability, making sure all your questions & concerns are addressed, how big your project is, how many systems need to be upgraded, permits, paperwork and of course, especially here in the mountains, the weather. From consult to finish we have completed projects in as little as 2-3 weeks. However, there are many things out of our control and it generally takes longer than that to be honest. We would estimate that from the point of contracts being signed and permits cleared, 4-6 weeks is likely. What we can promise is that we are good communicators and can help evaluate an appropriate projection for you once we have a better understanding of your project, the time of year and our current capacity.

How Does geothermal Work and what are the benefits?

Read this for the scoop on Geothermal: How it works

Heating & Cooling: Yes, the geothermal system provides heat when the temp drops but also provides cooling through the same system when the mercury rises!

Benefits: There are lots of benefits when you choose Geothermal for your heating and cooling needs. First, it is sustainable and environmentally friendly because it is not utilizing precious natural resources which also contribute to our carbon footprint. Second is safety because there is no combustion used and you don’t have to worry about freezing because your oil delivery couldn’t make it to your home due to weather related conditions. Third is home value as many buyers are increasingly interested in green homes and systems. Additionally, there is potential for immediate reduced cost in heating as the buyer would not need to purchase oil which is becoming more and more expensive.

Going Green: Making your home more green or even going off the grid is becoming an AFFORDABLE reality for many which is pretty darn cool in our book. Geothermal and solar are more accessible than ever and it is not too late to take advantage of the 2019 TAX breaks! 2020 will also have great tax breaks though they will be slightly lower for both solar and geothermal - so better sooner than later! These savings will help you see ROI much faster.
